HONOR X50 Official in China: X9a 5G Successor?

It looks like the HONOR X9a 5G might have a successor soon, as the brand announced the X50 in China with looks that appear to be similar to the former.

The X50 does look the same as the X9a 5G with its 6.78-inch 120hz AMOLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution and a punch-hole for the 8-megapixel selfie shooter. The large circular camera makes a return too–this time, you only get a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 108-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

While it appears to have the same thickness, the X50 packs a bigger 5800mAh battery with a slightly slower 33w wired charging. It’s possible that it might be using HONOR’s silicon-carbon battery, but the homepage mentions a Lithium Polymer battery instead. The biggest upgrade on the X50 is its use of a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, which should give it support for 4K HDR video on top of improved overall performance from the X9a 5G’s Snapdragon 695. There’s also an IP53 rating on the X50, along with configuration options that include up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage and Android 13-based MagicOS 7.1 out of the box.

HONOR X50 Price

The X50 starts at CNY 1399 (~Php 11k) for the 8/128GB trim and goes up to CNY 1999 (~Php 16k) for the 16/512GB model. It will go on sale in China on July 14, and our guess is that the X50 might make it globally–albeit using a different name.
