Huawei Confirms P50 Series Launch on June 2

The wait for the Huawei P50 series is going to be over soon, as the Chinese brand posted a photo of the phone’s large camera bump, confirming its launch on June 2.

If that is not convincing enough, leakster Rodent950 even posted what appears to be the official look of the P50 Pro on Twitter.

The render confirms the dual circle design that was seen on the prototype P50 units earlier this month, though the render here shows a different camera arrangement. This time around, you get three cameras on the upper circle and what appears to be a periscope camera and an LED flash on the bottom circle. That being said, the leaked image above will most likely be the P50 Pro.

Given that it was teased on a HarmonyOS poster, it is most likely that the P50 series will be among one of the latest Huawei devices that natively uses HarmonyOS. Currently, the Vision S is one of the first consumer devices that uses HarmonyOS.

While the P50 series is rumored to sport 1-inch IMX 800 sensor, that might not be the case given the camera arrangement for both the P50 prototype and the P50 Pro render. A 1-inch sensor will take up a lot of space, and Sharp’s Aquos R6 beats Huawei to the punch by being the first phone to have a 1-inch camera sensor. Also worth noting is that the Aquos R6 uses Leica optics–while the leaked render confirms that the Huawei-Leica partnership is still ongoing, we still do not know the extent of the partnership.

Interestingly, the P50 prototype does not have any Leica branding at all.

Right now, it is best to wait for the official launch of the Huawei P50 series on June 2 together with HarmonyOS to know what is in store with Huawei’s camera-centric flagship series.
