Announced last weekend during the Tech with Love event, HUAWEI said that the Watch GT 5 series, Watch Fit 3, and Watch Ultimate (Green) will be the first batch of smartwatches to have GCash QR payment support, and they will get the update by the end of November.

QR payments via wearables like smartwatches are among the much-awaited features that GCash has been working on. They were among our favorite announcements during Futurecast 2024. We’re excited about it because it will transform the way we use smartwatches–with QR payments, we can use our smartwatches as our wallets as well, paving the way for cashless transactions.
With QR payments on select HUAWEI smartwatches, Filipinos will have a more convenient contactless payment option that does not require them to bring out their phone or hand out physical cash. All they need to do is simply show the QR code on their wearable, and they’re good at making a transaction.
