While Huawei remains tight-lipped on when the Mate 60 Series will make its way outside of China, they did bring over the Mate 60 RS Ultimate Edition at MWC 2024. The RS Ultimate Edition is based on the Mate 60 Pro+Â but boasts a more aggressive design and an eye-catching red color that was showcased to members of the media at MWC 2024.

Unlike the rest of the Mate 60 series, the RS Ultimate Edition has a dual-tone design with Ultimate Design branding and a huge hexagonal module for the cameras. The design language reminds us of the Mate 50 RS Porsche Design, with the most obvious difference being the Porsche Design branding replaced with Ultimate Design since Huawei has ended its partnership with the former.Â
Like the Mate 60 Pro+, the RS Ultimate Design’s camera setup consists of a 48-megapixel main camera with OIS and an f/1.4-4.0 variable aperture, 48-megapixel periscope camera with OIS and a f/3.0 aperture, and a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera. It also boasts Huawei’s XMAGE tech. Judging from our experience with the P60 Pro we expect the Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design to dominate in terms of camera performance. After all, the Mate 60 Pro+ is the best smartphone camera right now, so we expect the same for the RS Ultimate Edition since they have the same hardware.
As for the rest of the internals, the Mate 60 RS Ultimate Edition is powered by a Kirin 9000s processor that’s paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, while its display is a 6.82-inch 120hz LTPO panel that has quad-curved edges that give it an illusion of barely having any bezels. The three holes on top of the display are for the 13-megapixel selfie shooter and an array of ToF sensors for secure face unlocks.
Completing the package is a 5000mAh battery that supports 88w wired and 50w wireless charging, satellite connectivity, IP68 rating, and HarmonyOS 4.0 out of the box.
Despite its appearance at MWC 2024, Huawei did not reveal details on the pricing and availability of the Mate 60 RS Ultimate Edition outside of China.
