A Helio G70 with higher clock speeds
MediaTek continues to expand its line of Helio G processors, this time with the Helio G80. Sliding in between the Helio G90 and Helio G70, the Helio G80 is more identical to the latter as it uses Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 cores. However, the Helio G80’s CPU cores run at higher clock speeds at 2.0Ghz (Cortex-A75) and 1.8Ghz (Cortex-A55) compared to the Helio G70. The same goes for the GPU: both the Helio G70 and Helio G80 use a Mali-G52 GPU, though the latter has a higher GPU clock speed at 950Mhz.
As a performance-oriented processor, the Helio G80 has key features like HyperEngine Game technology that promises smoother gaming and a smart switch to LTE+WiFi connectivity for improved online gaming performance.
Both the Helio G70 and Helio G80 are expected to debut soon in India with upcoming phones. As of this writing, the Redmi 9 is expected to debut with the Helio G70.
