Why is the realme 13+ A Great Phone Beyond Gaming

After proving that the realme 13+ is a solid midrange phone for gaming, we think that it is a good all-around offering at an under Php 20k price point. Having used the 13+ for a few weeks, here are some of the things that make it a solid midrange phone:

Solid main camera performance

The 13+ comes with an LYT-600 sensor for the main camera that has OIS. We’ve used this particular sensor on several phones, and the LYT-600 shines especially with low-light performance.

In this regard, the 13+ has a solid main camera that has excellent dynamic range across all lighting conditions. Details in images are well-preserved, and colors are accurate to what our eyes see.

Aside from being great for photography, the OIS in the main camera also lets you record stable footage even at 4K resolution, making it good for content creation as well.

Great display (and speakers)

Just like its predecessor, you also get the same 120hz AMOLED display with the realme 13+ that has a peak brightness of 2000nits for good legibility even when using outdoors. You also get better HDR image support, so you’ll appreciate watching those vibrant KPop videos in glorious 4K in the realme 13+.

Aside from that, you also get Widevine L1 so that you enjoy watching your favorite Netflix shows in Full HD, along with stereo speakers AND a headphone jack if you prefer using your favorite wired earphones.

Stunning design

Following the same approach with the realme 13 Pro+, the 13+ also goes for unique back panel designs, with the Victory Gold colorway featuring a lightning-like graphic to emphasize its gaming chops. It’s also thinner than its predecessor at only 7.6mm thin and lighter as well at 185 grams, all while keeping the same 5000mAh battery inside.

On top of those improvements, you still keep the headphone jack and get a better IP65 rating, making the 13+ more resilient when it comes to water splashes and dust.

Decent battery life

While the 13+ packs the same 5000mAh battery, it has a better battery life at 14 hours in PCMark’s battery benchmark. That’s around 1.5 hours higher than what we got with the realme 12+ and is proof that the Dimensity 7300 is also more power efficient compared to the Dimensity 7050 used by its predecessor. A longer battery life means that you can game longer on the 13+ and even use it throughout the day without worrying about running low on power–and still have enough power for the next day.

Fast charging

Aside from better battery life, realme also upgraded the charging speeds on the 13+, now supporting 80w SuperVOOC charging just like the 13 Pro+. This means that a full charge will take you around 40 minutes, and a quick 5-minute top-up will give you around 50 minutes of gameplay in PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings. That means a quick charge with the 13+ can let you complete at least one PUBG match and around three HoK matches, letting you spend less time at the power outlet.

The realme 13+ is priced at Php 19,999.
