The MIX Fold 4 and MIX Flip are not the only new phones that Xiaomi announced in Beijing: the brand also unveiled the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition, which is speculated to become the basis for the upcoming Xiaomi 14T.
While the design of the K70 Extreme looks similar to the F6 Pro (K70 in China) with its metal frame, the camera modules now have a slightly square shape. You get a triple rear camera setup that’s led by a 50-megapixel IMX906 main shooter with OIS, and the K70 Extreme Edition utilizes MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9300+ processor. This new chip gets improved AI capabilities over its non-Plus version, and Xiaomi designed a new heat dissipation solution that claims to lower chip temperature by 3 degrees Celsius. Configuration options include up to 24GB RAM and up to 1TB storage.
Despite being an Extreme Edition, you’re only getting a 1.5K 120hz AMOLED display instead of a WQHD+ panel used on the F6 Pro. However, the K70 Extreme Edition is using a new panel co-developed with TCL that has 4000nits of peak brightness and 480hz touch sampling rate. The display is accompanied by a D1 chip, which supports 3x interpolation for up to 144hz refresh rate while reducing power consumption by 15%.
You get a bigger 5500mAh battery inside the K70 Extreme Edition that supports 120w charging, along with two key chips: a Pengpai P2 chip for monitoring charging, and a G1 chip for managing battery health.
Redmi K70 Extreme Edition starts from CNY 2599(~Php 21k) for the 12GB/256GB model. You can get it in Black, White, or Blue, configured in 12/256GB, 12/512GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. The special Champion Edition comes with a ridiculous 24GB of RAM and 1TB storage and is co-branded with Lamborghini. This top-end variant is priced at CNY 3999(~Php 33k).
There’s no word yet on global availability, but it is speculated to be the basis for the rumored Xiaomi 14T.
