Xiaomi adds two more Redmi Note 12 variants in the Philippines with the 4G version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro and the Redmi Note 12S. Despite their name, both 4G-only phones look different from the Redmi Note 12 series that initially launched in the Philippines.

The Redmi Note 12S has similar specs to last year’s Redmi Note 11S but gets an updated look that has one less filler camera on the back. The other real difference with the Redmi Note 12S is that it will only be offered in an 8GB/256GB variant like the higher-end Redmi Note 12 models.

Being similar to last year’s Redmi Note 11S, the Redmi Note 12S comes with a Helio G96 processor, a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 108-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel depth sensor, a 6.43-inch 90hz AMOLED display, stereo speakers, and a 5000mAh battery with 33w charging. The positioning of the Redmi Note 12S is strange, considering that the Redmi Note 12 4G has a bigger 120hz AMOLED display–but trades off for a less powerful Snapdragon 685 processor and a 50-megapixel main camera.

If the Redmi Note 12S is strange already, the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G is even stranger. Looking through its specs, it is barely any different from the Redmi Note 10 Pro–with the only difference being a faster 67w wired charging speed. The rest of the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G’s specs are similar to the Redmi Note 10 Pro: Snapdragon 732G, 6.67-inch 120hz AMOLED display, and a quad-rear camera setup that’s led by a 108-megapixel main camera.

While it only has a 4G processor (and a rather old one too), the main advantage of the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G is that it can shoot 4K video–a feature that’s notably missing in under Php 15k (and sometimes under Php 20k) phones.

In the Philippines, the Redmi Note 12S is priced at Php 12,999, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G is priced at Php 14,999.
