The Galaxy A34 is Shifting to a Dimensity 1080 Processor

If the thought that the Galaxy A54 using Exynos would worry you, things are a bit different with the more affordable Galaxy A34. While the current Galaxy A33 did use the Exynos 1280–and we were underwhelmed by its performance–it seems that Samsung is opting for the Dimensity 1080 for the Galaxy A34.

It’s definitely a better choice, as the Dimensity 1080 has more powerful Cortex-A78 cores that run at 2.6Ghz (vs 2.4Ghz on the Exynos 1280), along with support for faster LPDDR5 RAM. A variant of the Dimensity 900 and 920, the Dimensity 1080 adds support for 200-megapixel cameras as well, though the Galaxy A34 does not maximize that.

Like its more expensive sibling, the Galaxy A34 follows the same design language used by the Galaxy S23 series: flat frame sides and individual bumps for all three rear cameras. Samsung did made the Galaxy A34’s cameras decent as get a 48-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and macro camera.

Just like its predecessor, you still get a dated notch on the Galaxy A34’s AMOLED display, though you are getting a 120hz refresh rate, making the phone just as compelling as the Galaxy A54 if not for that notch. You even get a 5000mAh battery that has 25w charging as well.

You still get an IP67 rating on the Galaxy A34, along with up to 256GB of internal storage. Overall, the Galaxy A34 has a lot of potential on paper (save for that notch), and it all boils down to how much Samsung plans to price it.
