The HONOR X9b is a Proper Upgrade to the “Indestructible” X9a

After it was teased in Malaysia last week, the UAE website of HONOR revealed the official specs of the X9b. Despite its similarities to the China-only X50, the X9b is not a rebrand. Looking through the official specs, the X9b retains the 16-megapixel selfie camera and 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera used on the X9a–the X50 omits the ultra-wide camera and has a lower-resolution selfie camera.

Comparing the X9b to the X9a, the former is slightly larger and has gold accents on that large camera module. You also get an orange vegan leather option, which should be the colorway to get for the X9b.

The X9b gets upgrades across the board. Its curved AMOLED display is bigger at 6.78 inches and has a 1.5K resolution which makes its display more detailed than the X9a. It also retains HONOR’s Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop protection, which means that the X9b should be as durable as the X9a when it comes to drops. The main camera is now a higher-resolution 108-megapixel shooter, and the X9b can now shoot 4K video thanks to its Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. The official specs also mention that the X9b will have 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Another highlight of the X9b is its large 5800mAh battery that’s impressive considering that it is just under 8mm thin. You also get Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2 out of the box, making the X9b one of the few HONOR phones to use its latest UI.

HONOR UAE did not reveal the official price of the X9b. However, given that the X9a had an official SRP of Php 16,990 in the Philippines early this year, we expect the X9b to be priced around that range as well.
