Initial Verdict: OPPO has finally achieved the endgame that all manufacturers have been chasing when it comes to a foldable in the Find N5: a phone so thin that it’s almost indistinguishable from a regular smartphone. The only barrier now is the price—although we’re not sure yet if this phone will be arriving in the country.
Pros
- It’s as thin as a normal smartphone
- Cameras have a lot of potential
- Crease in the inner display is virtually nonexistent
Cons
- Pricing (in Singapore) is steep
- Uses a 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite
Ever since Samsung released the first ever foldable back in 2019, brands have always been chasing the goal for their interpretation of the form factor—a phone so thin that it’s almost indistinguishable to a regular phone when it comes to form and function. It looks like OPPO has done exactly that with the Find N5. This phone is only a hair thicker than an iPhone 16 Pro Max but has an internal screen that’s bigger than the iPad Mini. We had an afternoon with this phone to play with it, and we came away very impressed.
OPPO Find N5 Quick Review Philippines: Design
OPPO wasn’t joking about the Find N5 being roughly as thin as an iPhone 16 Pro Max despite being a foldable: it beats HONOR’s record with a thickness of only 8.93mm when folded (the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm thick) and razor-thin 4.21mm when unfolded. We don’t think OPPO can go thinner than this to be honest, as they’re already hitting the upper limits of physics as far as the size of the Type-C port goes.
The secret to the Find N5’s slender build is an updated titanium alloy hinge that makes use of carbon fiber material and is around 26% thinner than the one used on the Find N3. You get a 7000-series aluminum frame on the Find N5, and OPPO takes it up a notch by adding an IPx6, IPx8, and IPx9. That beats even the Galaxy Z Fold6’s IP rating, as the Find N5 is a rare foldable that can be submerged in water up to an hour.
The overall design of the Find N5’s back panel is similar to its predecessor saved for a revamped camera arrangement where the LED flash is now within the camera module. Everything else is the same—including the alert slider.
OPPO Find N5 Quick Review Philippines: Display
OPPO revised the display size on the Find N5 as it is physically bigger than the Find N3. The inner display is a 6.62-inch 120hz LTPO OLED panel that has a familiar 20.7:9 aspect ratio, 2450nits peak brightness, and a Full HD+ resolution.
The inner display, on the other hand, has a bigger screen estate than an iPad Mini with an 8.12-inch 120hz LTPO OLED panel with a near-square 9.9:9 aspect ratio, Full HD+ resolution, and a 2100nits peak brightness. Thanks to the revamped engineering on the Find N5’s hinge, the crease on the inner display is practically non-existent. Comparing it to other foldables we’ve handled, it’s amazing how OPPO was able to find a way to practically eliminate the crease on the inner display.
OPPO Find N5 Quick Review Philippines: Cameras
The rear camera setup looks similar to the one on the Reno13 Pro, but there are a few differences: aside from the obvious Hasselblad camera branding, the 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera has autofocus, while the 50-megapixel periscope camera settles for 3x optical zoom for a 70mm focal length equivalent. As for the main camera, the Find N5 uses a 50-megapixel LYT-700 sensor (the Reno13 Pro uses an IMX890), and its focal length is wider at 21mm (vs 24mm on the Reno13 Pro).
We have yet tried out the Find N5’s cameras as of writing this quick review, and we’ll get back on it once we thoroughly used them in various lighting conditions.
OPPO Find N5 Quick Review Philippines: Internals and Battery
Being a flagship device, you get a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that’s paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.
It’s worth noting that OPPO chose to use the 7-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which might turn off some users. We will have to do benchmark and real-life tests and see how this version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite compares to the regular and the Galaxy S25-specific versions.
The Find N5 comes with Android 15-based ColorOS 15 out of the box, and OPPO promises 4 Android updates and 6 years of security updates. That’s a decent software update commitment for a flagship Android device even if some may argue that it’s not as long as what Samsung offers for its Galaxy S series devices.
Inside its skinny body is a 5600mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 80w wired and 50w wireless charging. That’s an upgrade over what the Find N3 had in terms of battery capacity, charging speeds, and added support for wireless charging.
OPPO Find N5 Quick Review Philippines: Wrap-Up and Initial Verdict
The wait for OPPO’s return to the foldables market is worth it, as the Find N5 is an engineering marvel by itself: aside from being insanely thin, OPPO was able to find a way to further reduce the crease in the inner display and give it better water resistance than the rest of the foldables that are available in the market.
We’re not sure if OPPO will bring the Find N5 to the Philippines, but in Singapore it is priced at SGD 2500 or around Php 103k when converted, making it pricier when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6.
