The time has finally arrived: Transsion group has risen to the top spot in both IDC and Canalys‘ reports in their Q4 2023 report for the Philippines. Looking through both reports, it’s impressive that Transsion Group, which consists of itel, Infinix, and TECNO, finally grabbed the top spot in the country within just a few years.
Looking through the data provided by Canalys, Transsion experienced a big spike in December, and we remember that it was the month when Infinix officially sold the ZERO 30 4G and some models under the HOT 40 series and TECNO brought over some models under its Spark 20 series. Canalys’ data emphasizes that TECNO dominated the entire Southeast Asia market, with the Philippines being its top market.

Aside from strong sales from Infinix phones, Canalys also credits the Phantom V Flip as a successful model: it was the most affordable flip phone offered in the Philippines at Php 30k, and lucky ones were able to snag it for as low as Php 23k.

Transsion’s spike with its market share in the Philippines corroborates with IDC’s data, where they experience a sharp rise from the third quarter of 2023. The biggest contributing factor has to be the itel S23+, which was an affordable phone with a curved display that was priced as low as Php 5k for those who were lucky to grab one.

Overall, data from both Canalys and IDC are solid proof that Transsion was able to reach the top spot by the end of 2023 in the Philippines. It remains to be seen if they can maintain the momentum in 2024, though TECNO is expected to unveil the POVA 6 series soon.
