Upcoming MediaTek P40 and P70 Processors Leaked in Spec Sheet

Powerful processors coming from the Taiwanese company

While initial reports say that MediaTek will be focusing on mid-range chips instead, it seems that the Taiwanese company has a few powerful chips in store.

While they are not part of its flagship X series SoCs, the P40 and P70 offer promising specs. Check the leaked spec sheet below:

Both P40 and P70 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 12nm process and will have AI built into them like the P23. Both chips are octa-core variants, with the P70 having a higher clocked A73 cores at 2.5Ghz (compared to 2.0Ghz on the P40) and a more powerful Mali G72 MP4 GPU (compared to a Mali G72 MP3 GPU on the P40).

Other differences include LTE support (the P40 will support Cat 7, while the P70 will support Cat 12), and RAM support (the P40 supports LPDDR4x 1866Mhz while the P70 will support a higher LPDDR4x 3733Mhz). Both chips are slated to launch on second quarter of 2018 and will power phones from Gionee, OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi’s full-screen Redmi line.
