While we have seen a number of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered phones, we have yet seen a device that uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000–despite being announced almost a month before Qualcomm’s flagship silicon. That ends today, as OPPO revealed that there will be a Dimensity 9000-powered variant of the Find X5 Pro.
OPPO Find X5 Pro Specs:
- Dimensity 9000 processor
- 12GB LPDDR5 RAM
- 256GB UFS 3.1 storage
- 6.7-inch Quad HD+ LTPO AMOLED display, 120hz refresh rate, 1000hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+
- 50-megapixel f/1.7 Sony IMX 766 main camera with Omni-Directional PDAF and OIS, 50-megapixel f/2.2 Sony IMX 766 ultra-wide-angle camera, 13-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera with 5x hybrid optical zoom
- 32-megapixel f/2.4 IMX709 selfie camera
- 3G, 4G, 5G
- WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, in-display fingerprint scanner
- Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, IP68 rating
- 5000mAh battery
- 80w wired charging, 50w wireless charging
- Android 12, ColorOS 12.1
While it has practically the same set of features as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered variant, the Dimensity 9000 does not have a MariSilicon X chip and loses the Hasselblad color calibration and 5-axis OIS–hence the rather plain branding on this variant.
While OPPO did not mention why it did not include its in-house chip on the Dimensity 9000 variant, we suspect that the MariSilicon X does not support MediaTek’s latest flagship silicon.
To make up for those omissions, the Find X5 Pro Dimensity Edition is more affordable at CNY 5799(~Php 47.2k), as compared to the CNY 6300(~Php 51.3k) asking price for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 version. There’s no word if the Dimensity edition will make it globally since it was only announced in China.
