Adobe’s Photography Plan Will Be 40% More Expensive

While I understand that majority of online subscription services have become more expensive–YouTube Premium, Spotify, and Disney+ have increased their prices. However, Adobe is the most insane of them all: they have implemented a 40% price hike on their popular 20GB Photography Plan from Php 498 a month to an absurd Php 844 a month. And their massive price hike affects all of their current subscription offerings.

As a Creative Cloud subscriber since 2019, I find it disgusting that Adobe decided to implement a 40% price hike. That’s way higher than the price hike implemented by other subscription services, and I’m not the only one complaining: PetaPixel wrote about the price hike last month, and Adobe is quick to implement it across several countries including the Philippines.

Granted that they have added several new features to Photoshop and Lightroom, I don’t understand why Adobe chose to not step on the brakes when it comes to price hikes. There’s also a big debate on Adobe’s dominance, as there are alternatives out there that do roughly the same thing at a lower price tag.

I’m personally cancelling my Adobe Photography Plan and switching instead to their Lightroom-only plan that’s priced at Php 675 a month–it’s still more expensive, but it’s at least more palatable and more suited to my needs.
