Still not convinced that Samsung is the top phone brand in terms of market share for the first quarter of 2024 according to IDC? Canalys has released its Q1 2024 report and further confirms that Samsung is the leader in terms of market share.
Aside from the positive sentiment that smartphone shipments have increased for the first quarter of 2024, Canalys emphasized that Galaxy AI–or its unveiling with the Galaxy S24 series–is the main reason why Samsung was able to regain the top spot.

Aside from further confirming Samsung’s dominance in Q1 2024, Canalys also corroborates with IDC’s data as far as the top 5 is concerned: Apple is in second place, while third to fifth place consists of Xiaomi, Transsion (itel, Infinix, TECNO), and OPPO. Canalys’ data also disclosed that Xiaomi’s data includes POCO, while OPPO’s data includes OnePlus.
Corroborating with IDC’s data, Xiaomi was able to maintain its positioning at 3rd place with several key releases during the first quarter of 2024 including the POCO X6 series, Redmi Note 13 series, and the global launch of the Xiaomi 14. Canalys adds that the Redmi A3 also contributed to Xiaomi’s market share as its next volume driver in the budget segment.
The same can be said for Transsion, which started 2024 with releases from TECNO that include the POVA 6 Pro and the Spark 20 series.
