HONOR Teases Gapless Design of the Magic V

It’s no secret that HONOR also wants a slice of the foldable phone market share, and it has been hyping up the Magic V lately leading to its launch. In particular, HONOR is flaunting the gapless design of the Magic V, which is something that OPPO and Huawei were able to attain with their new foldable devices.

In its latest teaser, HONOR revealed the Magic V and its key design elements that include a waterdrop hinge design (similar to the Find N) that eliminates gaps when the phone is folded. The inner display appears to not have any camera cutouts (suggesting that it might use an under-display camera), while the bottom part of the frame has a loudspeaker and USB-C port–but no headphone jack in sight. The outer display will have a punch-hole and appears to be a curved panel.

The video also showcased more of the hinge mechanism, where the HONOR Magic V can be closed without any visible gaps–similar to Huawei’s implementation with the P50 Pocket and OPPO’s approach with the Find N. As for the display size, the Magic V’s outer display is expected to measure around 6.5-inches, while the inner display will be around 8-inches.

While the gapless design of the Magic V might be the highlight, HONOR might have another trick up its sleeve if it manages to pack an under-display camera for the inner display that has a better resolution than the one used on the Galaxy Z Fold3. As far as specs is concerned, the only thing HONOR has confirmed with the Magic V is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
