If you think HONOR was insane for slapping an 8000mAh battery inside a phone that’s less than 8mm thick, realme took things up a notch with their GT 7 10000mAh concept phone. You read that right: this concept phone packs an absurd 10000mAh battery inside, and it has support for 320w charging that is higher than what we experienced on the GT3 a few years ago.
Granted that the GT 7 10000mAh is thicker at 8.5mm, it weighs only 215 grams, making it lighter than several flagship phones currently in the market. How is that possible? realme Global Marketing President Chase Xu explained in a video on X that the GT 7 10000mAh uses a battery with 10% silicon anode to give it an energy density of 887wH/L, the highest in the industry. Aside from that, realme had to redesign the motherboard to be only 23.4mm tall to maximize the space inside this concept phone.
Aside from those engineering feats, some compromises were made. While it’s called GT 7, it’s different from the GT 7 we know with the camera module–and underneath the transparent back cover reveals only one functioning camera in a crammed space that’s practically consumed by the enormous battery. There are other details missing like charging speeds, battery life, and internals used, but it’s understandable that this is more of a proof of concept.
It’s unlikely that realme will make this phone into a production model, but we expect their future phones to have huge batteries upwards of 6000mAh.
