The Better Flip Phone? OPPO Find N2 Flip Set to Go Global

Samsung remains to be a dominant force when it comes to foldable phones. For the compact flip segment, the Korean tech giant is leading with the Galaxy Z Flip4. Motorola tried to compete against it, but its RAZR 2022 feels underwhelming and has limited availability. Huawei could have a solid offering with the P50 Pocket, but the lack of 5G would turn off people. TCL actually has one too–but the specs are outdated. OPPO is the latest to challenge the Galaxy Z Flip4 with the Find N2 Flip, and it appears to be better than what Samsung has to offer in several aspects.

Starting with the obvious, the Find N2 Flip has the biggest outer AMOLED display among the competition with a 3.62-inch panel, which gives it more uses than the external display of the P50 Pocket and Galaxy Z Flip4. It also has the best charging speed and biggest battery capacity amongst current flip phones in the market with support for 44w charging and 4400mAh battery–which is as big as what’s inside the significantly bigger Galaxy Z Fold4.

Moving to the cameras, the Find N2 Flip uses a new IMX890 sensor for the main camera, making it the best sensor for any flip phones out there. The ultra-wide-angle camera may be forgettable since it’s just an 8-megapixel sensor, but you do get OPPO’s MariSilicon X chip and Hasselblad tuning to improve post-processing performance.

As for the foldable display, you are getting a 6.8-inch LTPO panel, which can dynamically change refresh rate from 1hz to 120hz depending on its use. It’s use of a Dimensity 9000+ is a good move too, as MediaTek’s flagship chip does give the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 a run for its money. The only thing that the Galaxy Z Flip4 has an advantage over the Find N2 is having an actual IP rating–so far, vivo is the only other brand that does offer an IP rating to a foldable device.

The Find N2 Flip is priced at CNY 6000(~Php 48k) for the 8GB/256GB model, CNY 6400(~Php 51.2k) for the 12GB/256GB model, and CNY 7000(~Php 56k) for the 16GB/512GB model.
