Xiaomi Announces Global Photography Challenge

$50,000 is up for grabs for the best photo

For the second year, Xiaomi is inviting all of its users to join the Xiaomi Global Photography Challenge. The challenge aims to encourage people to use their smartphones to snap great photos and create compelling visual stories.

“Ordinary | Extraordinary” is this year’s theme, and the challenge will be divided into four categories: Natural look (portraits), Piece of the World (landscapes and “big” scenes), Dreamscape (light in the darkness) and Why So Serious? (creative photos).

Judging the photos are Magnum Photos members Gueorgui Pinkhassov and Jerome Sessini, Xiaomi Senior Vice President Wang Xiang, and Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain. Participants have until November 22 to submit their entries here. 100 photos will be selected, and Mi Fans will vote for their favorite photos from November 27 to December 6.

Xiaomi has stepped up their photography game by offering better cameras to its current crop of phones. Check out our photos taken using some of Xiaomi’s phones:
