As we look back, here are 20 fun facts about GCash in its 20 years of existence:
- They started in 2004 as a money transfer service that’s done via SMS/Text.
- They introduced mobile phone reloading in 2012.
- 2012 also introduced GCash’s ability to pay bills
- QR payments? Gcash was among the first to introduce that in 2017.
- Doing identity verification (aka know-your-customer) electronically started in 2018 in the GCash app.
- 2018 also saw the debut of GCredit in partnership with CIMB.
