HMD Now Its Own Brand, Takes Over Nokia Phone Branding

Human Mobile Devices, or more popularly known as HMD, are stepping out of the shadows of their Nokia smartphones and into the limelight. HMD has announced that they’re now their own brand, and will now start developing and selling HMD-branded smartphones alongside Nokia-branded ones.

The move allows HMD to not only continue to sell Nokia-branded phones but pursue new partnerships with other brands, as well as offer their flavor of devices moving forward.

“We’re mixing things up with a multi-brand approach. This means you will get to see unique HMD originals, the Nokia phones that you’ve always loved, and some super exciting partnerships that we can’t wait to reveal,” said Lisa Higgins, the head of Marketing for Europe in a LinkedIn post.

Subsequently going to nokia.com/phones will redirect you to HMD.com, which is in line with the company’s takeover of the Nokia phone branding. Current owners of Nokia phones shouldn’t worry, as HMD is still honoring and handling warranties and repairs of Nokia phones.

The latest developments at HMD come roughly three weeks before Mobile World Congress. We’d be surprised if HMD doesn’t show off its own brand of device at the biggest show in the mobile world.
