It will be using Samsung’s EUV manufacturing process
Ahead of its rumored December 3 unveiling, details about the Snapdragon 865 have been leaked over at Weibo. According to the post, Qualcomm’s 2020 flagship SoC will be using Samsung’s 7nm EUV process instead of TSMC’s 7nm process.
As for the core configuration, the Snapdragon 865 will use one high-powered Cortex-A77 core with a 2.87Ghz clock speed, three Cortex-A77 cores with a 2.42Ghz clock speed, and four Cortex-A55 cores with a 1.84Ghz clock speed. The core configuration claims to deliver 20% better CPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 855.
On the GPU side, the Snapdragon 865’s Adreno 650 GPU is rumored to deliver as much as 20% better GPU performance over the Adreno 640. Other notable upgrades of the Snapdragon 865 includes support for LPDDR5 RAM. Like its predecessor, Qualcomm is expected to release 4G and 5G variants of the Snapdragon 865.
