Old Flagship Phones Still Worth Buying in 2024

While brands unveil their 2024 flagship phones one by one, we think that getting a 2023 flagship is still an excellent choice. These old flagship phones offer plenty of power for 2024 standards, and are more affordable as well–especially if you manage to snag a good deal on a well-used one.

With that said, we gathered five of the best old flagship phones that you can still buy in the Philippines. Do note that brand new prices are based on their listing on official stores, while used prices are based on what we gathered through Facebook Marketplace listings.

Old Flagships that are Still Good in 2024

  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Xiaomi 13
  • OnePlus 11
  • ASUS ROG Phone 7
  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro

Galaxy S23 Ultra – Php 57,500 (12GB/256GB, New) (Php 43,000 average used price)

The Galaxy S24 Ultra may be fancy with its titanium body and AI smarts, but its upgrades over last year’s Galaxy S23 Ultra is incremental. Not to mention, Samsung will be bringing over Galaxy AI features to the S23 Ultra, making the 2023 flagship still a solid deal–especially if you’re the type that wants to take extra-clear fancam footage during concerts. If you still like curved displays on an UItra device, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the last of its kind.

Xiaomi 13 – Php 44,499 (8GB/256GB, New) (Php 27,000 average used price)

While Xiaomi did announce the 14 series in China, the brand has yet to confirm if both the standard and Pro version will be made available globally. Instead of gambling on getting a China ROM version and risk not having any official warranty, we recommend that you get the Xiaomi 13 instead. It’s one of the few compact flagship phones that you can buy with a solid Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and it has a versatile camera setup with Leica’s excellent color science.

OnePlus 11 – Php 45,990 (8GB/128GB, New) (Php 39k average used price)

While the OnePlus 12 has been announced globally (and will eventually make it to the Philippines), we still think that the OnePlus 11 is a great option. It’s a solid step up from the OnePlus 10 in terms of both imaging performance and durability, and we at Unbox collectively agree that the OnePlus 11 is the brand’s redemption moment. Those Hasselblad-tuned cameras take great snaps, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 still offers plenty of power. Oh, and we do think that the OnePlus 11 is a better deal than the OnePlus 12R overall.

ASUS ROG Phone 7 – Php 46,995 (12GB/256GB, New) (Php 40k average used price)

While we’re working on our review on the ROG Phone 8 Pro, there’s no question that the ROG Phone 7 is still one of the best gaming phones that you can buy in the Philippines. Beyond its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the ROG Phone 7 can push the 2023 flagship chip to its limits thanks to its complex thermal management system that include an external duct that works together with ASUS’ Aeroactive cooler to keep the ROG Phone 7 performing at its best even during the most intense gaming sessions.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro – Php 71,990 (256GB, New) (Php 45,000 average used price)

With the iPhone 15 Pro being unreachable for most users, getting an iPhone 14 Pro is the next best idea. While we had our fair share of criticism on the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has addressed most of the issues we encountered on the iPhone 14 Pro–and that it is one of the best phones to use for taking photos and videos (like this KPop music video). Compared to all the Android flagships we mentioned in this listicle, you’ll have a better chance in getting a well-used iPhone 14 Pro–especially with those who chose to ditch them for the USB-C–sporting iPhone 15 Pro.

That wraps up our list on old flagship phones that are still worth buying in 2024. Which of these phones do you plan to get?
