Sony doubles down on wearables with The Core

Sony isn’t new to the wearables game – they made that jump as early as 2012 with their SmartWatch, which sadly, didn’t catch on as they hoped it would. Nevertheless, Sony has once again made another wearable, though this time their reach is more ambitious – the Core isn’t only designed to track what you’re doing right now, as with most other wearables. The Core is designed to track your life – from the number of photos you’ve taken, music you listen to, how long you sleep, which of your friends you talk to the most, and how long, alongside other more boring things like the number of steps you’ve taken, your location and the like. Sony will collate all of that information and lovingly present it to users via a grid where they can examine just exactly how they’re living their life.

The Core connects to your device via Bluetooth, but the complete details of how exactly it sends data, when it sends it, including what happens if your phone isn’t in range isn’t exactly clear. We gather that Sony just teased The Core this CES to gauge public response and to build hype, and we imagine we’ll see more of the device later on in World Mobile Congress.
