Here’s How Converge Supports Local Startup Communities

Aside from offering its internet services to public places like airports and to MSMEs like hotels, Converge also shows its support for startup communities in the Philippines.

Recently, Converge provided free internet access to the Geeks on A Beach (GOAB) conference, which connects emerging entrepreneurs with venture capital investors and technology, design, and innovation leaders. The conference made its return after 5 years and was held at Bellevue Resort in Panglao, Bohol.

“My wife Grace and I started Converge with the vision of giving Filipinos access to world-class connectivity — the same kind that you get in progressive countries. From a startup in Pampanga, we challenged the giants and expanded our network nationwide to reach Visayas and Mindanao,” Converge Co-Founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy shared, emphasizing how his company supports small businesses–and helps entrepreneurs scale up their businesses.

Aside from broadband services, Converge also introduced cloud-based productivity products with Converge Workplace, which are aimed toward MSMEs.

Key topics discussed during GOAB include the evolution of the Philippine startup ecosystem, challenges of startup life, venture capital, trends, legislation and policies, and scaling up talent management.

“Our vibrant startup ecosystem has been promisingly growing with more than 1,100 startups, 60 incubators and accelerators, 50 venture capitalists, and more than 200 co-working spaces nationwide that enable collaboration,” DICT Sec. Ivan John Uy said.
