Some may not be too happy about this, but it’s better safe than sorry. Select models of the 2020-2022 Isuzu D-Max and mu-X models have been recalled. Here’s what you need to know.
Based on currently available information, there has been a manufacturing issue involving the steering components. The lower steering shaft attaching bolt may not be torqued according to specification. That means it can come loose while driving on rough patches of road. Oh, we have more than our fair share of that here in the Philippines – especially for owners of the specified Isuzu vehicles, expecting their vehicles to capably traverse the great outdoors.
For those who don’t know, the mu-X is the company’s flagship SUV, while the D-Max is their pick-up truck. Both are equipped to be competent off-roaders or adventure vehicles; whichever you desire them to be. A total of 15,542 vehicles are affected, manufactured from 2020 to 2022.
Over time, this steering bolt may lose tension and dislodge. That will result in a complete loss of steering while driving – an obvious risk for catastrophe and lawsuits. Of course, Isuzu Philippines has worked promptly to advise owners of affected vehicles to pay a visit to their nearest dealership to have it checked.
More often than not, issues relating to safety take utmost priority when it comes to recalls such as this. After all, a failure to do so could create a huge, negative outburst should something happen. Props to Isuzu PH for responsibly handling this issue for its user base’s safety. So be sure to pay a visit if your vehicle is part of these Isuzu models which have been recalled.
