We have all heard of rewards systems in stores before. These systems usually offer some sort of rebate to a paying customer in order to incentivize purchases with complimentary products from the company. Now, the latest iteration of the Starbucks Rewards Program allows for customers to earn Stars whether purchases are made in-store or through the third-party program Grab. Here’s how everything works.
The Starbucks Rewards Program has mostly stayed the same in its years of existence. You walk into the store, grab your daily dose of coffee, give out your name and Rewards card, pay, and walk out. Gather 100 Stars and you’ll be rewarded with a free beverage or food on your next visit.
A lot of people don’t have the time to show up to the actual store itself though. Many need their coffee fixes while they’re cramming something at work, in a meeting, or as a dessert while on a Netflix binge at home. Some really just don’t want to expose themselves to outside contact. Whatever the reason is, it’s difficult to have to drive or walk to your nearest branch.
In this pandemic, the primary solution to this issue has been delivery services like Grab. Walk into any Starbucks branch on a good day and you’ll find a dozen or so of our green-clad friends waiting to take orders to their destination.
Luckily, Grab and Starbucks have partnered up to enable Starbucks Rewards members to earn Stars through every order. That means having your coffee delivered via this service now earns you BOTH Grab Points and Starbucks Reward Stars that add up to a free drink or food of your choosing.
The math pertaining to the Starbucks Rewards Program here is pretty simple. Every 40 pesos* spent on any Starbucks item on GrabFood earns you one star. That means if you make a purchase of 200 pesos, you get 5 stars through GrabFood in return. Add this up to 100 Stars in order to claim any beverage or food item at any Starbucks location. You’d be hard-pressed not to find one within your immediate vicinity.

Excited now? Here’s how to get started on your Starbucks Rewards Program membership:
- Visit a Starbucks store, purchase, and activate a Starbucks Card with a minimum of PHP 300.
- Download the Starbucks PH app (available on Android and iOS) or go to the Starbucks PH website to register your Starbucks Card to an account.
If you’d like to link your Grab account to your Starbucks Card in order to earn Stars on deliveries, here’s how to do it:
- To link the account for the first time, go to the Food tile on the Grab app and search for Starbucks.
- Once you’ve completed your order, go to the “Loyalty and Membership” section on the Order Summary page.
- Click “Add Account” and type in your Starbucks Rewards log-in details.
- Once you’ve received a notification that you’ve successfully linked your account, you will start collecting Stars on all paid and completed Grab Food deliveries as soon as the order has been successfully placed.
