Xiaomi was set on winning the processor race by bringing the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors in its Xiaomi 12 smartphone series launch this 2021, according to this report by TechAdvisor. Unfortunately for them, Motorola beat them out in China with the nationwide release of the Moto Edge X30, which is currently on sale there right now.

The show goes on though. Android Authority stated in an article that Xiaomi has announced a December 28 launch announcement event in China, even noting that the 12 will be a smaller flagship phone while the 12 Pro will be its all-rounder.
Reported specs include, as mentioned previously, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor as its beating heart. This makes sense as that seems to be the processor of choice for most flagship phones launching in 2022. The display up front is rumored to be an LTPO display with variable refresh rates according to the TechAdvisor article, but no exact display size has been mentioned as of now.
Gizmochina claims to have gotten a hold of a screen protector manufactured for the Xiaomi 12 Pro, so they stacked it on top of the Xiaomi 11 for a size and camera location comparison. The device seems to retain its curved edges, a trend initiated by Samsung a couple years ago. Relocated is the selfie camera, with center placement instead of the previous generation’s left.

As for the other specifications, our team has found that other notable specs are likely to include (but are not limited to) a 2K resolution screen, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, 120w wired charging, and a triple rear camera setup that has AG glass and is led by a 50-megapixel main camera.
The lineup is currently the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, 12 Ultra, and 12X according to various sources, but we’ll have to see which of these devices actually go on sale in 2022. Some may be announced at a later date than December 28 and released mid or Q3 of 2022.
