eGov Super App Aims to Make Government Transactions More Accessible

As most government agencies are transitioning into digitizing their services (LTO, for one, is making a number of its transactions available through its LTMS portal), there are challenges to this transition. One of these challenges is how to simplify these transactions for the common Filipino–for the record, there are 175 government websites where they can do their transactions. That can be overwhelming for Filipinos, especially for those who are not tech-savvy. Acknowledging these concerns, the DICT is working on a one-stop-shop platform called eGov Super App.

Initially announced last December, the DICT further discussed details about the eGov Super App during this year’s Microsoft Asenso Pilipinas Summit. DICT Undersecretary David Almirol explained in his post that the eGov Super App aims to be the go-to application for any Filipino citizen to avail of all national and local government services.

Almirol also explained that the eGov Super App will not disrupt any current system used by government agencies. Instead, the app aims to aggregate all of these systems and integrate them using a Single Sign On (SSO) method and an Application Programming Interface (API). This means that Filipinos will only need to use the app to deal with their government transactions–from obtaining documents to paying required fees.

“We intend also to partner and work with other government agencies to incorporate more features like jobs, tourism, agriculture, news, payments, e-commerce, transport, start-up empowerment, and other citizen-centric solutions,” Almirol said in his post.

The eGov Super App is set to have a pilot launch by this March.
