Philippines Lags Behind LTE Availability, Speeds In Latest OpenSignal Report

There’s still a lot to be done

OpenSignal’s latest State Of LTE report has dropped, and there’s still a lot of work to be done in the Philippines as far as LTE availability and speed are concerned. The Philippines is one of the countries that come in last in terms of LTE availability and speed when compared to the rest of the world. The report covers metrics collected from July 1st to Oct 1st 2017.

Out of the 77 countries included in the report, the Philippines is currently 68th in terms of LTE availability sitting at 58.83%, along with Tunisia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic as well as Germany, Pakistan and the Russian Federation.

As far as LTE speeds are concerned, the Philippines is still at the bottom of the heap at 73 with an average speed of 8.24 Mbps. Only Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and India are worse in terms of LTE speeds.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, if you live in South Korea, you’re probably covered by LTE almost anywhere you go as the country has 96.69% 4G availability at all times. They’re not the fastest country in terms of LTE speeds though – that crown belongs to Singapore, which has a blistering 46.64 Mbps average download speeds. The global average for speeds currently sit at 16.6 Mbps, up from last year’s 16.2 Mbps.
