Spotify Removes the Default Shuffle Feature

Apparently, the popular music streaming app Spotify listens to the requests of artists. No more shuffling for albums — songs will now play in the order that artists intended. This is all thanks to Adele.

According to Adele, removing the shuffle button on albums will preserve the artist’s intention. This is because songs were actually placed in a certain order to “tell a story.” Fortunately, Spotify is quick to respond. It immediately removed the default shuffle feature. It even replied
to Adele on Twitter, saying “Anything for you.”

Apparently, the issue about default shuffle feature is nothing new to Spotify. A representative from Spotify told Variety that people are requesting to make ‘play’ the default button on all albums. However, users who still want to shuffle an Album on Spotify may still do so by going to the “Now Playing View” and selecting the “shuffle” button.

Adele recently made a huge comeback with her single Easy On Me, her first new song in six years.  It immediately became the most streamed song in one day on both Spotify and Amazon’s Alexa device after its release. Other tracks from the album such as My Little Love, Oh My God, I Drink Wine and Hold On, are also getting a good number of streams. Last Friday, Adele’s Album “30” was released. This is her fourth studio album and revolves around her marriage to Simon Konecki.

According to Spotify, the said album accrued 60.7m streams globally in the first day it was available, making it one of the most-streamed albums on its release.
