Twitter has been involved in quite a lot of drama and controversy within the past months, especially with the whole Elon Musk situation. Apparently, this debacle has also caused internal struggle for the company. It has finally reached a critical point where beloved Twitter VP of Engineering Sandeep Pandey has bid his farewell to the company. Here’s the breakdown of the situation.
Essentially, Elon Musk was supposed to buy out Twitter for $44 billion after a feud at the start of the year. However, he has backed out of his decision after examining the lackluster security and abundance of bots on the platform. The court hearing is set in October and is projected to be on headlines around the world.

It doesn’t help that Twitter’s former head of security, Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, has come forward and noted the company’s negligence and resulting breaches of critical security codes. He is set to speak on it in the US Senate hall on the 13th of September. We’re sure there’s more than meets the eye and it’s very complicated, but the gist of the matter is simple: Twitter is in deep trouble on both technical and legal levels.
We strongly feel that this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the platform’s issues, which might get uncovered as time goes on. This could just amplify the storm and take down the entire company in its wake.
As a result, Twitter executive and VP of Engineering Sandeep Pandey has resigned from his position. He joined the company in 2012 as a simple engineer and rose to the ranks with his skill and talent. He will be taking his aforementioned talents to Meta, the parent company of social media goliath Facebook. According to the GizChina report, a Twitter spokesperson confirmed this transition and labeled it as a “natural” change given industry trends.
Pandey is rumored to be part of Meta’s AI and machine learning division, where he will continue to contribute his decades of experience to the company’s ongoing projects. There is also a high chance that items he’s had in his head from his time at Twitter will come to fruition in Meta, which is a company with its own share of problems but not to the extent that Twitter is in.
He is not the first to depart from the company, as many have resigned or been fired in the timeframe of the pandemic. This applies to employees from the bottom all the way to executive positions: notable examples being VP of Twitter services Katrina Lane, VP of Health Ilya Brown, and Head of Data Science Max Schmeiser. That list of important names actually extends quite a bit to 30% of the company, which is a worrying sign for the once-invincible giant’s future.
On his Twitter profile, reports say CEO Jack Dorsey regrets turning Twitter into a company instead of a general communications protocol like email. Should Musk have continued with the purchase, Dorsey could have earned almost $1 billion for himself, but this is the least of his worries right now.
