The Cleanest Razer Pro Peripherals To Improve Your Workstation

When one thinks of gaming company Razer, the immediate thoughts that come into mind are associations with their neon green branding, quirky product names, streamers on Twitch, and other forms of more juvenile entertainment. The company has attempted to release more muted colors of its famous products to offset its bright image, but now they’ve decided to create a product line aimed primarily at professionals. Meet the Razer Pro line of devices.

Pro could mean a myriad of things – but here it stands for productivity. The basic suite is composed of the Pro Glide desk mat, Pro Click mouse, and Pro Type Ultra keyboard bundle.

They all come in a simple yet sophisticated white and grey color combination. The set oozes minimalism, especially when together as one. It complements the white table in the setup above, with the notebooks providing a pop of color to liven up the atmosphere. Razer has strayed away from the RGB lighting options here, a rare sight from the company. They’re definitely committed to maintaining the image that they envisioned for this line.

The Pro Glide desk mat comes in two sizes. What we have here is the XXL which is designed to take over your entire desk, while the M is fitted like a traditional mousepad. Razer claims that at 3 mm thick, the mat can take a beating from daily prolonged use. This makes it a suitable partner for Work-From-Home arrangements. In our opinion, this is one of the smoothest pads we’ve used in terms of gliding experience. It also manages to dampen keyboard sounds well, which is a plus given that a lot of people have mechanical keyboards nowadays. There’s not much, if anything, to complain about with this desk mat.

Moving on to the mouse is the Razer Pro Click Mini. This is the smaller, more portable sibling of the full-size Pro Click. Razer advertises that this mouse was built with silent switches in order to minimize the noise produced. The scroll wheel can be set to enter tactile, free-spin, or tilt-click modes depending on your use case. The Pro Click Mini can take up to 2 AA batteries, lasting up to a claimed 30 days on Bluetooth and 19 days on wireless. Unlike other mice, this one will also operate with only 1 AA battery installed.

The product lived up to the marketing. We found the scrolling modes and silent switches to be some of our favorite implementations of the technology as of now. Its weight also makes it convenient for long working sessions. The only issues we can see start off with identifying the lack of weight as a double-edged sword; which may not make it the best for serious gamers. Also, the HyperSpeed connection can get spotty and inconsistent when a single dongle is used by multiple 2.4 GHz devices, most noticeable with the mouse. We’re not exactly sure if the clean aesthetic this feature provides is worth the connectivity issues. Despite those minor setbacks, it’s still a great buy.

Last but not the least, we have the Razer Pro Type Ultra keyboard. According to the team, this is another Pro device built for a balance of silence and ergonomics. Both the keycap selection and the Razer linear yellow switches used should feel rewarding to type on. Additionally, a generously cushioned wrist rest provides support from table edges or other awkward surfaces. The company gives you three connectivity options: wired, wireless, and Bluetooth. The keyboard will last up to more than 200 hours on the latter two.

Based on our experience, the Razer Pro Type Ultra definitely is one of the quietest out-of-the-box keyboards out there. While not comparable to fully-lubed and dampened custom mechanical keyboards, this is still an impressive feat. It’s meant to stay at home with its full size but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It does what it can do well, but we would have appreciated better use of the empty space on the keyboard with additional functions such as volume knob/s or special key/s.

Overall, this entire lineup boasts a tidy look that will leave minimalists drooling. There are some notable improvements over past attempts and we’d love to see even better products in the future. Despite that, this specialist set achieves Razer’s vision of being targeted to professionals but is so-so for their original demographic of gamers.
