The Huawei Mate 10 Is Launching On October 16

Mark Your Calendars

We’ve been talking about Huawei Mate 10 rumors for awhile now and we finally have a specific date set for its launch — October 16. In case you’ve missed out on the articles we’ve written, here’s everything we know (or at least what we think we know) so far plus our own speculations for the device as well.

Going Edge-to-Edge

LG was the first to go 18:9 this year by showing off its Full Vision display on the LG G6 and Samsung upped the ante by releasing the Infinity Display on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. It looks like the trend is slowly moving away from dual cameras to edge-to-edge displays, and Huawei isn’t about to get left behind. Initial reports say that the company may be going with 18:9 display on the Mate 10 measuring in at 6-inches with QHD resolution.

New Kirin 970’s Processors

A few rumblings here and there revealed that Huawei’s new flagship SoC, the Hi-Silicon Kirin 970, would be entering mass production just in time for the Mate 10 and it looks like everything lines up. The Kirin 970 is going to be the first 10nm chip by the company and it’s getting a bit of a GPU upgrade to make sure it can push the pixels on the previously mentioned display without any issues.

Armed with Leica Summilux Lenses

The Mate 9 shipped with dual Leica lenses on-board, so it isn’t far fetched that we may be getting the same Leica-approved Summilux lenses on the Mate 10. We’re pretty sure you’re getting a dual camera setup on this iteration of the Mate as well.

Prepare Thy Wallets

Along with the confirmed launch date for the Huawei Mate 10 is an alleged price tag for the device. Before we get to it, please take the figure you’re going to be seeing with a grain of salt. The rumored price tag for the flagship phablet hovers around the $1100 price point, or roughly Php 55,423. Before you go on a rant, remember that number isn’t final and we’re really hoping it’s going to be much lower than that.

Huawei Mate 10 Lite

Launching alongside the new iteration of Huawei’s big-screened flagship will be a “Lite” version of the handset as well, though details for it haven’t hit our usual spots for leaks and rumors. The source does mention a supposed price tag for the Mate 10 Lite, which is $526 or Php 26,502.

All the speculation will come to an end this October when Huawei officially unveils the device in Munich on October 16. As always, we’ll be here to give you the skinny on the launch of this year’s version of the Mate device and report any other leaks or rumors we find online.
