Every year, nearly as many people await the latest Samsung Galaxy S and Z devices as they do for the iPhones. This year is no different. That’s why rumors have been swirling around even before the devices hit the market. Now, we finally have one camera leak from the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra thanks to famous tipster IceUniverse. Based on these images of this orangey pumpkin-like object, we can see that Samsung has stuck to its guns of keeping the colors a little bit on the brighter side. On the other hand, the orange is less pronounced on the Google Pixel 7 Pro, which is also considered one of the best camera phones as well as overall devices for the year.

It’s not to say that the S22 Ultra’s camera system is bad by any means – it isn’t. It has just been trumped by its flagship counterparts in the time since its release, since the tech world moves quicker than almost anything else out there. Comparing the images side-by-side, the camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra maintains more of the details on the object’s surface while its predecessor softens it out. We can also perceive more detail on the papaya on the lower-left side of the photo.

We’re not exactly sure what sensor is used in this S23 Ultra as of now, although word on the street is that it’s going to be using the ISOCELL HP2. If so, then it will join the select few 200-megapixel smartphone cameras on the market today. While that’s a big number, keep in mind that not all megapixels are the same.

With competition in the segment flaring up, it would be a big knock on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra if its camera system were to underperform. After all, this was one of the main reasons why the Ultra lineup was developed: it’s supposed to be the very pinnacle of what the brand can do at the moment. For a giant like Samsung, customers are expecting a lot and willing to pay a pretty penny to get it.
