Ookla reveals in its Q4 2022 report that Smart has the fastest mobile network, while Globe has the most consistent connectivity.
Ookla recently released its Q4 2022 report on the mobile internet performance in the Philippines, and revealed that Smart delivered the fastest download speeds, while Globe remained to offer the most consistent performance.
When it comes to download speeds, Smart posted a dominating lead with a median of 32.16Mbps. Globe comes at a far second with 21.30Mbps, while DITO trails in at 17.66Mbps.
Smart and DITO are head-to-head when it comes to multi-server latency, with Smart having the upper hand at 48ms and DITO at a very close second at 48ms. To recall, latency measures the time it takes data to go from point A to point B, and those who have lower latency offer better internet performance.
Despite Smart’s lead in terms of download speed and latency, Globe takes the crown when it comes to consistency, where its connection is up 83.1% of the time. Smart came in second with 80.8% consistency.
Consistency is measured based on an internet connection with at least 5Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed.
Outside of the competition between the three telco providers, Ookla reports that the Philippines improved its rankings in both mobile and fixed broadband internet for December 2022. The country improved its ranking by 1 for mobile, with an average download speed of 25.12Mbps, while fixed broadband download speeds are at 87.13Mbps, improving the Philippines’ ranking by two spots.
