Xiaomi Announces Big-Batteried Redmi 10 Prime in India

Aside from the Redmi 10, the Xiaomi sub-brand announced a different variant in India with the Prime.

While Redmi is known for renaming its phones for different markets, the Prime has one big difference over the vanilla one that was announced a few weeks ago.

Redmi 10 Prime Specs

  • Mediatek Helio G88
  • 4GB/6GB RAM
  • 64GB/128GB
  • 6.5-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD DotDisplay, 2400×1080 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate
  • 50-megapixel f/1.8 main camera f/1.79, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro camera, 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor
  • 8-megapixel f/2.0 front camera
  • 4G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1
  • Side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers
  • 5000mAh battery
  • 18W wired charging, 9w reverse wired charging
  • Android 11, MIUI 12.5

Compared to the one slated for a global release, the India-only Prime version gets a bigger 6000mAh battery, which should definitely last longer than the 5000mAh cell found on the global version. Unfortunately, charging speed remains the same at 18w, so topping up that large battery will take some time.

Save for the battery difference, the Prime is identical to the global Redmi 10. These include a Helio G88 processor, 50-megapixel main rear camera, a pair of 2-megapixel cameras, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a 90hz refresh rate and a punch-hole for the 8-megapixel selfie snapper.

Having a bigger battery normally translates to a thicker body, and we do not know if that applies to the Prime since it looks similar to the vanilla global version.

The Redmi 10 Prime is priced at RS 12,499(~Php 8.6k) for the 4GB/64GB version and RS 14,499(~Php 10k) for the 6GB/128GB version. It will be available in India on September 7.
