WhatsApp is widely-known to be one of the world’s top messaging and chat applications. To keep its place, its developers continue releasing useful new features that could keep users from migrating to other platforms. Here are some of those additions, such as WhatsApp Chat Lock.
But what is WhatsApp Chat Lock? According to the site, it keeps certain messages extra private and secure by blocking these with an extra layer of security.
The site continues to explain that “Locking a chat takes that thread out of the inbox and puts it behind its own folder that can only be accessed with your device password or biometric, like a fingerprint. It also automatically hides the contents of that chat in notifications, too.”
It’s extremely useful for times when you have to lend your phone to a family member to check out a picture or some content on your phone. Even the notifications themselves can be blocked off to prevent any mishaps. There are plans to further innovate upon the feature by introducing add-ons such as companion devices and custom passwords for each individual chat.
To add to this WhatsApp Chat Lock feature, other possible updates include usernames and screen-sharing functionality. The former should be very similar to the implementation on Telegram – further increasing privacy by not giving access to real names or contact numbers. Meanwhile, the latter should operate much like how Discord does it. This will allow users to share what they see while they’re on call. However, keep in mind that these features are in Beta and may only be present on the latest versions of the application. Be sure to get to updating!
