ASUS has officially announced that they’re now providing an official bootloader tool for their Zenfone 2. This is especially relevant to people who like to tinker and modify their phones to suit their tastes, as it allows people to install custom ROMs into the device with ease.
Of course, even if ASUS graciously released these tools, using it and installing a custom ROM still means that you’ll be voiding your warranty. This isn’t uniquely ASUS – almost all of the other companies that releases official bootloaders follow the same policy.
Before you download the tool, you’ll want your phone to be running software version 220.127.116.11 or later. We highly recommend using this tool and uploading a custom ROM if you know what you are doing, as there’s still a chance (however small) of completely bricking your phone if something goes wrong. You can download the tool from here.
