BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 update now available!
The BlackBerry PlayBook finally gets a much needed update with the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0. This is a massive upgrade which brings a lot of core functions that a lot of users were looking for when the PlayBook first shipped last year like standalone messaging (e-mail), contacts, and calendars. We took some photos of the new features after we downloaded it on our PlayBook. Check them all out below! Don’t forget to read the captions for the details.
Contacts
Messaging
Improved App World
Calendar
Folders
More Apps!
There are several other new features added with BlackBerry OS 2.0 that we weren’t able to test. For one there’s the BlackBerry Bridge upgrade. You can actually use your BlackBerry phone as a remote control now for your PlayBook. For the complete feature list check out The Verge.
Verdict
BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 should have been what was inside the PlayBook when it first launched last year. The native applications lets more people enjoy the tablet as a productivity tool and the more robust App World gives it more entertainment and media options. If you own a PlayBook then you should definitely download this update ASAP. If you don’t own one then you might want to consider buying since the prices are quite low these days (especially if you know where to look) and I’d like to think you’d be getting a sweet deal given this massive software update.
