Canalys: Infinix, TECNO Steal #1 SPOT In PH Smartphone Market

Canalys, the world’s top technology research firm, has just had the statistics leaked for the first quarter of 2023. In a shocking upset, the Transsion group containing brands like Infinix and TECNO managed to take the leading spot in the Canalys PH smartphone vendor market research. Here’s why it’s so shocking.

For the longest time, the number one spot was occupied by realme. That applies to the entirety of 2021 and 2022 – a dominant two-year reign. There was still a considerable gap between this brand and the rest of the competition, while Transsion was only fourth in Q3 of 2022 and third in the past year’s final quarter.

That’s precisely why it comes as a shock that Transsion has not only jumped two places in the span of a quarter, but has also knocked the long-standing king off its throne. Some may wonder about the breakdown: while Transsion holds hotshot newcomers like itel and TECNO under its belt, we hypothesize that most of this market growth that propelled it to the top spot on Canalys PH rankings comes from Infinix.

After all, the company has experienced some overwhelming successes lately: including the 2023 rendition of its bestselling Zero 5G released earlier this year.

With quite a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming Infinix Note 30 series, the sky is the limit for this brand.

We’re not exactly sure why the BBK group brands OPPO, realme, and vivo aren’t clumped together in one place as well. But considering this, how long do you think Transsion will stay at number one?

Transsion’s products have terrible ui and no software update policy in place. Realme, on the other hand has.
