The Smart Tank 580 is an Easy-to-Setup Printer for Everyone

We recently set up the Smart Tank 580 at our studio, and it was a breeze with the HP Smart app, saving you the hassle of installing drivers manually. Through the app, we were guided with step-by-step instructions on how to set it up–from loading the inks to the ink tanks, making the necessary alignments to the print heads, down to configuring the Smart Tank 580 through our studio’s WiFi connection. Outside of the HP Smart app, the Smart Tank 580 can also print wirelessly via Apple AirPrint, Wi-Fi Direct Printing, and Android Printing.

Since it has a large ink tank instead of the usual cartridges, loading up ink on the Smart Tank 580 is hassle-free–the ink bottles are designed in a way that you can fill up the ink tanks without creating a mess. The Smart Tank 580 has one of the most seamless ways of refilling inks on a printer.

The windows show a good overview of how much ink is left, and it comes with sensors that warn you through the printer (or through the app) if you need to refill the ink tanks. Aside from the hassle-free ink refill system, the Smart Tank 580 has replaceable print heads, making this printer suited for the long term.

Speaking of long-term, filling up all four ink tanks allows the Smart Tank 580 to print up to 6,000 color pages or up to 12,000 grayscale pages. That translates to being able to use the Smart Tank 580 for more than a year before you need to buy ink.

What makes this printer great for small offices is that anyone with the HP Smart app can print their documents wirelessly. You can task the Smart Tank 580 to print a few documents while you’re out, and get them once you arrive at the office. With our team needing to print multiple documents while outside of the office, this is a nice feature to have to streamline our workflows. As a wireless printer, the Smart Tank 580 has a self-healing WiFi feature that resolves any connectivity issues on the fly so you need not worry about some documents not getting printed.

The Smart Tank 580 also has a flatbed scanner, letting you scan and copy documents conveniently. It has a few nifty features like being able to remove distracting marks and hole punches from your documents upon scanning, Book Scanning to make your page scans neat, and multi-item scanning. The Smart Tank 580 saves these scans as PDF, TXT, or DOCX files, all of them having searchable text.
