Is the FreeClip the Future of TWS Earbuds?

While the global launch of the MatePad Pro 13.2 was the main highlight of Huawei’s launch event in Dubai last December 12, Huawei announced a very interesting product with the FreeClip. The unusual-looking wireless audio device is best described as a pair of open-ear TWS earbuds that you simply clip onto your ears.

The idea behind the FreeClip is that they offer a better solution than bone-conducting headphones where they simply clip on your ears and provide you with good audio. The FreeClip’s design does not use silicone ear tips, so they are more hygienic on paper. The FreeClip’s unconventional design also means that both earbuds do not have a specific side–all you have to do is just clip them to your ears.

The key feature of the FreeClip’s unique design is the C-Bridge, which is made from “high-performance Ni-Ti shape-memory alloy” to allow a snug fit for various ear shapes. Huawei claims that they designed the FreeClip’s C-bridge based on data obtained from over 10,000 global human ears, so anyone who will try them on should have a comfortable fit.

Since it’s an open-ear design, the FreeClip allows you to be aware of your surroundings while listening to music. The drivers used are 10.8mm dual-magnet ones that make use of a reverse sound wave system to minimize sound leakage without the need for silicone tips. The FreeClip is rated for up to 8 hours on a single use, and you can use them for up to 36 hours with the included charging case.
