Huawei’s MateBook D16 Gets Upgraded for 2024

As part of its launch in Dubai, where it made the MatePad Pro 13.2 official globally, Huawei announced the 2024 version of the MateBook D16. As the name implies, the main highlight of this laptop is its large 16-inch display with a Full HD resolution and lightweight chassis of just 1.6kg.

While it keeps roughly the same footprint as the MateBook D 15 series, the 2024 MateBook D16 adds a numeric keypad to maximize the keyboard area. You also get physical shortcut keys for most used features like an electronic camera switch and calculator.

Despite having an overall thickness of 17mm, it can be configured with up to a Core i9-13900H processor. That makes this one of the most powerful offerings under the MateBook D line. Since it uses Intel’s H-series processor, the 2024 MateBook D16 has a performance mode that pushes the processor’s TDP to 40W for maximum performance. Configuration options include up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage, which is up to par with current mid-range laptop standards.

The thin chassis has an adequately large 70wHr battery–Huawei quotes a battery life of up to 15.3 hours of video playback. Other features include a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button, a 720p webcam, and a port selection that includes a USB-C port, USB-A 2.0 port, USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, headphone jack, and a full-sized HDMI port.

The 2024 MateBook D16 starts at 799 Euros(~Php 48.1k) for the Core i5-12450H variant with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The top-end variant, which has a Core i9-13700H, 16GB RAM, and 1TB internal storage, is priced at 1299 Euros(~Php 78.2k). The 2024 MateBook D16 is already listed on Huawei Philippines’ website, so expect it to arrive in the country soon.
