The Smart 8 Gets a Pro Model with Better Processor, Camera

While we already have the Smart 8 in the Philippines that is priced at under Php 4k for the 8GB/128GB variant, Infinix unveiled a Pro version that looks similar to the non-Pro model but has key changes in the processor and camera department.

For the cameras, the Smart 8 Pro upgrades to a 50-megapixel shooter that offers more resolution power than the conventional 13-megapixel snapper found on the non-Pro model. As for the processor, the Smart 8 Pro uses a Helio G36, which has higher-clocked CPU and GPU cores on paper compared to the Unisoc T606 used on the non-Pro model.

Save for those changes, everything else is the same with the Smart 8 Pro. These include the 6.6-inch 90hz display with a punch hole and thick bezels, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 13 out of the box, and a 5000mAh battery that supports 10w charging via USB-C. You also get Infinix’s Magic Ring interface, which is their spin on Apple’s Dynamic Island.

We don’t know the pricing and availability of the Smart 8 Pro as of writing this article, but we speculate that Infinix will give an under Php 5k price tag for the same 8GB/128GB variant given the processor and camera changes from the non-Pro model.

The Smart 8 Pro is listed on Infinix’s Sri Lanka website and will debut in Malaysia on January 31, which means its possible that Infinix will also bring this entry-level device to the Philippines as well.
