DJI is not the only one that wants to challenge GoPro in the action camera market, as Insta360 also joins the arena with the Ace Pro. To make it stand out from what GoPro and DJI have to offer, the Ace Pro is co-engineered with Leica and boasts a large 1/1.3-inch sensor–which is bigger than what you get on the Hero 12 and just as big as what the Osmo Action 4 has to offer. The Ace Pro comes with a 16mm equivalent lens with a f/2.8 aperture.
Making the Ace Pro unique is its 2.4-inch touchscreen, which flips up so that you can easily frame your selfie videos. Despite the flippable display, Insta360 is confident with the Ace Pro’s 10m water resistance.
The large sensor allows the Ace Pro to shoot 4K video at up to 120FPS and even 8K video at 24FPS, along with a better dynamic range, especially when shooting in low light. To cater to different social media platforms, the Ace Pro has a FreeFrame video feature that allows you to crop your footage to suit the needs of YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and more.
While it also uses the same mounting system found on most action cameras, Insta360 employs a magnetic mount system on the Ace Pro that allows you to change mounts depending on your needs. It also has AI smarts that include “AI-powered editing” for creating videos on the Ace Pro itself, along with gesture and voice controls for hands-free shooting.
The Insta360 Ace Pro is priced at Php 26,990, while the standard Ace–which lacks Leica optics and uses a smaller 1/2-inch sensor that shoots 6K video at 30FPS (but can still shoot 4K120) is priced at Php 21,990.
