realme 11 Pro+ to Use a “New” Dimensity 7050 Processor?

While we’re waiting for the realme 11 Pro series to be unveiled in China on May 10, we know so far that the Pro+ will have a 120hz curved AMOLED display, a premium leather and fabric back panel option, and a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS. We’re wondering what processor will the realme 11 Pro series will use, and a Geekbench 6 listing reveals that it will have 12GB RAM and will use a MT6877V processor–or also known as the Dimensity 1080. There are reports that the realme 11 Pro series will debut a “new” Dimensity 7000-series processor, and that points to the Dimensity 7050.

We’ve previously pointed out that MediaTek has been rebranding some of its processors lately, and that also applies to the Dimensity 7050 that will make its debut with the realme 11 Pro+. If you compare the Dimensity 1080 and Dimensity 7050 side-by-side, both processors are identical but in name. In short, the Dimensity 7050 has native support for 200-megapixel cameras (which is much-needed), along with Full HD+ 120hz displays and 4K video recording.

Like its doppelganger, the Dimensity 7050 uses a 2/6 configuration that consists of 2 Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.6Ghz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0Ghz. You are also getting support for up to LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage, so the Dimensity 7050 is still a good chip despite technically being close to 3 years old.

Considering that the Dimensity 1080 is based on the Dimensity 920 (and Dimensity 900), this means that realme is technically using the same chip for its numbered series for the third year in a row. We don’t know why realme is using the same processor (again, in a technical sense), but our best guess is that it is part of trying to lower costs while introducing new features.
