realme’s New Note Series Wants to Redefine the Budget Segment

realme kicks off its 2024 global announcements by revealing a new line with the Note series. After we posted a teaser of the Note 50 a few days ago, people were wondering what’s with this new realme line. We were puzzled as well, but the realme Team sent us an email explaining all about the new line.

As explained by their CEO Sky Li in an open letter, the Note series is part of realme’s “Make it Real” rebranding, where they aim to implement a “Top to Bottom expansion” strategy. The Note series will cover the bottom part of the strategy, where realme aims to expand its budget offerings with phones that are more accessible to budget-conscious consumers.

“The birth of the Note series is not just the introduction of a product or an increase in market share; it is our response to challenges and an expectation for the future,” Li explained in his open letter.

With the Note 50, realme wants to make an under Php 4k phone that has features you’d normally find on more expensive budget phones. It’s the most affordable realme phone next to the narzo 50i Prime at Php 3,599, yet you are getting a number of interesting features with the Note 50.

For one, its display has a 90hz refresh rate, which is a rarity on the under Php 4k price point, and you even get USB-C instead of the aging MicroUSB for charging the phone. The under Php 4k price point usually gets you a 3GB/32GB variant, while the Note 50 gives better value with its 4GB/64GB option.

During our time using the Note 50, we were impressed that it was running smoothly despite the very modest internals. This something that we barely experienced in reviewing any phone that’s priced below Php 5k. To wrap up the Note 50’s great value for money, you get a slim body and a unique dual-texture back panel design, an IP54 rating, and some realmeUI trademark features like Mini Capsule.

With the Philippines being among the first countries to have this new phone series, realme is committed in making products more accessible to consumers while not compromising too much on key features. The Note 50 is a good debut offering from the line, and we can’t wait to see what realme has in store for its new budget line.
