October 5 is the day that the Google Pixel 2 series will be announced, according to industry leakster Evan Blass. The tipster also mentioned that the Pixel 2 and its larger sibling, the Pixel 2 XL will be shipping with Qualcomm’s upgraded Snapdragon 836, which is expected to be a slightly overclocked version of the existing Snapdragon 835. Earlier reports have established that HTC will be making the smaller Pixel 2, while LG will be on duty for the Pixel 2 XL.

As for the phones’ other specifications, there’s barely any info out there right now. Speculation has it that Google won’t be going the way of the dual camera for these Pixels, but will be following the iPhone’s trend of removing the headphone jack. A 1440p resolution is also expected for the duo, but there are no details yet on what kind of display technology Google will be utilizing for the handsets.
